Nose is very complex, starting with caramel, then a hint of chocolate, before transitioning to stronger notes of dark fruits, rye, and ending with brown sugar.
The rye and brown sugar carry through the palate, which is not as layered as the nose.
The finish is slightly thin and noticeably smooth compared to other bourbons at its proof point.
This is a very good bourbon. Somewhat disappointed by lack of complexity on the palate, but that’s the only negative.
