This is my favorite Ardbeg expression to date, and maybe the best whisky I have ever tasted. The bottle states "treacle, bacon and bonfires", and it's pretty spot on. Apart from the strong smoke, I also get tabacco, honey and some grassy notes on the nose. The palate is a balance between sweet, spicy, and smoky. The sweetness and spice stays through into the long finish and is warming and soothing on the throat. This whisky deserves a place on my top shelf, and probably also on yours.
