I got a small sample of this 1974 vintage Beam’s Choice from a buddy. It came from an unopened decanter exactly like the one pictured here. I was pretty excited to taste something distilled the same year I was born. I’m a little surprised that it has survived all this time in a ceramic decanter with a screw top plastic cap. How’s it taste?
It smells and tastes like typical Beam with peanut funk and corn, but quite light with no harsh notes, kind of silky on the palate, and the medium finish is very pleasant.
I would say time has been good to this whiskey.

So we should all stock up on budget Beam and in 35 years it will taste like this ;)
