Forgive my ignorance, I'm mostly into bourbon and this is the only Irish whiskey I've had besides plain Jameson. I did my research for a while on this bottle and was surprised when I poured it, that it had that peat/grain/scotch smell. I was expecting vanilla buttery goodness like Jameson but again, that's all I have to go off of. I will say the apple lingers for a long time and it smells more like scotch than it tastes, which is good for me. I don't regret buying it in the least, just wasn't the super sweet bouquet I was expecting from all the reviews from multiple sources. Should be a solid stepping stone into other Irish whiskeys.
Any recommendations are welcome.
