Aroma hits with a strong HH vibe and is a nicely balanced delivery of rustic oaky, leathery and darkly sweet notes with some bolder peanut butter and cocoa notes that rise as it opens – a touch of coppery spice adds dimension; Palate starts kind of… meh, but as it opens the spice creeps up over time as do the oak and sweet notes; Finish might be the best aspect with a solid spicy oaky fade.

@TheWhiskeyJug Yeah, I wouldn't be deeply upset if I paid $40 for a whiskey of this quality, but I wouldn't buy it again. I've been seeing it around for about $45, which seems excessive based on what I'm reading. I agree that at $30 I'd consider it as a staple and at $35 it sounds like it would still be a pretty fair price.
@ContemplativeFox It's only $40 in SoCal and I don't think that's a terrible price. It'd be perfect at $30, but there is worse whiskey charging far more than $40 these days.
Sounds like a solid but uninteresting dram. I keep reading ratings suggesting Daviess has solid offerings but it charges too much for them.
