When I first poured it, I could smell ethanol and oak. I let it sit for a bit and then had a taste. The initial hit of spiciness was a bit unpleasant. It seemed to overpower the other flavors. With a few drops of water, it really opened up to expose a bit of vanilla that doesn't last long and an overwhelming bittersweet taste. I found it to be a little bold. The finish was a bit toasty with a lingering of popcorn and peanuts. Overall, I would recommend this bottle as an afterwork unwinding sipper. I'm not sure its a take to a party type of bottle but its one to keep on the shelf for yourself.
