Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

I hesitate to leave this updated rating...I like the idea of keeping this bottle accessible.
This is fantastic whiskey. I have had random bottles and store picks and they have all been in the upper echelon of bourbon. I purchased a random bottle in July 2020 and am now halfway through. It rates close to the best bourbon I have ever sampled. It lacks nothing. It is incredible. My only problem is the lack of a barrel number. It would be nice to select another from the same barrel and hold on to it for a special occasion. Mileage varries with even the best of single barrel products. However, I have found ranges from excellent to fantastic with Russel's Single Barrel Reserve. I still can't understand how the lower proof 10 year reserve is so thin and underwhelming in comparison. More unsolved mysteries from the bourbon universe.

@WhiskeyLonghorn I picked up a Virginia ABC barrel pick of this last week. The newly updated label on the back had all the pertinent information regarding barrel number, rick, and date etc. 10yr 5 mo age. It is interesting that the WT 101 proof Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel product has barrel info but not the standard Russell's SiBar.??? I plan to crack the ABC pick on a coastal fishing trip next month and will review.
Lovely review for just an outstanding dram. The standard release is woefully lacking in Barrel info, you’re right, but some of the newer store picks I see with the updated packaging have way more specifics on them, including rick and barrel info.
It sure is surprisingly different from the 10 year. I'm confused by the lack of barrel number as well. I mean, even Jack Daniel's includes it.
