This is an excellent beginner Scotch for American whiskey palates! It is a sweeter/ malty Scotch with very little smoky peat flavors but it is there slightly to start training the bourbon palate to appreciate it as they grow into other Scotches. I also love to have this when I can't decide between a Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon or Balvenie DoubleWood 17. Good compromise!
