What was a nice, simple rye has become increasingly astringent over the last five or so years.

Rye — Kentucky, USA
@ContemplativeFox, BT always said it was six years old but they never added that to the label. inre: ER - Tell me about it, I just saw a 750 for $51 and rolled my eyes right out the store.
@doneeb Didn't it? Huh, I really thought it used to be 6YO. I'm not too sure what will happen with ER, but it's definitely getting pricier and harder to find, so I expect either that trend will continue or the age will drop.
@ContemplativeFox, It's never had an age statement but I'm sure it is seeing younger stock these days versus pre-2014. People have been saying the same thing about Eagle Rare since the label change in ~2013 but I won't be too worried until it actually happens.
That's interesting. I'm not super impressed with the bottle on my shelf because it tastes too young. It's disappointing that they removed the age statement and I worry now for the future of Eagle Rare :(
