A rare find in the wild, and at MSRP no less! I’ve seen this once or twice over the years, so I made a rare impulse buy, and I’m quite pleased I did. Despite the hype and my distaste for Buffalo Trace’s limited allocation scheme (particularly in Texas), I do find myself liking this!
Nose is soft and fruity. Of all the wheaters I’ve tried, this one has a more active nose and palate than Makers or Rebel Yell. There’s a youth to it, but it’s not astringent. This almost feels like a cross between a Speysider and a well-aged Canadian whiskey. The palate is typical BT, soft and inoffensive, bit still tasty. I can see why people chase Weller bottles.
I do enjoy this. I’ve had half the bottle just this week, so it clearly doesn’t suck. I don’t love it enough to chase bottles down like you really hardcore bourbon aficionados, bit it is tasty and I’ll enjoy it if I can find it at MSRP. Cheers friends, and happy weekend!

Nice review. I used to see this fairly regularly in SC, but now it is vanished and only on the secondary market for 2x or more for a bottle.
@Ctrexman I found it at my neighborhood Twins. Normally I don’t shop there because they usually charge 20% more for stuff than TW or Specs, but occasionally they have something the others don’t. I also got an Elijah Craig 8 YR store pick Single Barrel for $30 if that interests you at all. I’ve seen a few 10 YR picks around town too. Much better than the standard small batch.
I do see this regularly at Twins and often TW. This was scarce in New England
@WhiskeyLonghorn Holy cow! I think I'm happier with the cheaper ER I can find vs cheap Weller.
@ContemplativeFox it’s our one BT consolation prize down here. Makes up for the Ragle Rare 10 I saw for $75 today...
Congrats on finding it for so cheap!
Incidentally "MSRP" on this is around 17 to 19 dollars, as of only a year ago.
I still know of one store that will keep this shelf stocked(most of the time) at slightly over msrp, it's becoming MUCH harder to find in general, I still believe Makers offers about the same and now for less money. Or spring for Makers 46(only about 5$ more) and get something far better yet.
