Château de Laubade Intemporel Hors d'Âge Bas-Armagnac
Armagnac — Bas-Armagnac, France

I actually had the Intemporel No. 5 which is supposedly made of brandies aged 20-30 years. Whatever.
Nose evolves quite a lot, starts off with big toasty sugar flavors almost reminiscent of a full bodied rum. Then goes into baked pears and more bright apple candy flavors. Taste took me be surprise, was not nearly as sweet as I expected it to be. A touch dry with all the wood tannins, reminiscent of some sweet tobacco leaf with an apple-y and grape candy backing. It feels more like an aged calvados than a grape-based brandy. Pretty great.
