Smells like straight nail polish remover lmao. I can optimistically smell prunes and walnuts but it's mostly acetone. Fortunately, taste also is much better in this one. Deep cherry, leather, and wintergreen to lead off with, ending with butterscotch. Also on the sweet side. Velvety mouthfeel. Ultimately, it tastes like if old people could be alcohol.

Nose is fresh sweet apples and shiny sweetness. If you asked me to smell it and had told me this was calvados, I'd have believed you. Has some of that new make funk on the nose, so it's probably quite young. Tastes very sweet and a bit shiny. There's some dusty malt and not much else. Finishes almost with a sugarcane taste.

Glenglassaugh 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 20, 2024 (edited March 25, 2026)Nose is cooked apples, malt funk, and peaty iodine. Taste is of peat smoke and white sugar sweetness that balances it out. There's also pears and chestnuts baked in brown sugar and condensed milk. It's desserty, it's delicious, it's highland with aspirations of Islay. I didn't expect much but it's shockingly good. -
Nose is canned fruit cocktail, Cool Whip, and cut hay, which I quite like. Tastes of sherry funk and honey. A lot of the creaminess and bright fruits drop out. A tiny bit of peat sneaks through at the end. Mouthfeel is unfortunately a bit thin. Reminds me of Macallan 12 without the Macallan 12 prices. Very attractive nose with slightly disappointing follow through.

Nose is rich and tropical with ripe banana and papaya. Lots of dried dark fruit with some bright candied citrus shining through. Taste is chocolate covered dried fruit. Finishes with raisiny sherry. A bit hot and a slight bit astringent but the overall texture is actually pretty amazing for it being as low as 43%. Well done, though I'm not sure it's necessarily worth the price.

Whiskey Del Bac Classic Unsmoked
American Single Malt — Arizona, USA
Reviewed November 23, 2024 (edited July 8, 2025)Nose is dusty and greasy for lack of a better word. The taste is nutty, cherry, dried apricot, and a big dose of lactofermented pickle savoriness. I could have sworn to God that this was finished in sherry casks. A bit funky/skunky.
