Nose 1: caramel oaky sweetness with apples and pears. Fresh and fruity. Also get some of the dark fruits like prunes or raisins. Smells like it is going to be very rich.
Taste 1: definitely different but not in a bad way. Getting some tart blackberries and caramel sugars. Sweet oak comes through nicely. Mouth feel is almost syrupy! Also getting some toasted marshmallows, not burnt or on fire yet but just about to be. Also getting a little dark cocoa on the finish .
Nose 2: underneath the caramel and oak and heavy sweetness is the well established raspberry and blackberry jam. Very rich. Absolutely beautiful.
Taste 2: just so rich and delicious, you can almost chew it up. Nectar thick makes for a great mouth feel that really allows the whiskey to coat the palate. Does leave a dryness in the back of the throat in the end. Almost reminds me of the numbing feeling of those sore throat sprays. Very interested.
Finish: medium to long finish.
Overall: I got this on clearance at Kroger for 21.99! I practically stole it from them! For that price it's a must buy! I think I like this one more than the 1920 simply because I don't get the cough medicine flabor that I get with the 1920. Now that was a neck pour for both of these but this one is just richer and more viscous and more complex in flavor in my opinion.
