Maple on the nose along with cinnamon. Palate is incredibly soft with caramel and a minty finish. The finish has a lingering sweetness, almost like nougat along with vanilla. Opened up incredibly within ten minutes in a glencairn. At first was super closed off. Really soft and easy for 100 proof. The nougat sweet note comes through more with some water along with a touch of oak tannic bitterness. I appreciate the flavors I guess I just prefer more robust bourbons and this is on the delicate side. It has some complexity yet is boring to me. Just not my thing really. I’ve had this, the small batch, and the yellow label. None have really appealed to me. Maybe I’m just not a Four Roses kind of guy.
