Alright so Ive had the standard 12 , the 14 cognac and now the 15 French oak. They are all cut from the same cloth and share similar tasting notes. This 15 however adds a real nice aged leather note not present anywhere else. Overall its deeper flavor and carries some weight. Easily surpasses the 12 and 14 cognac but I prefer the Glenfiddich 15 over this. Still a good(not great ) single malt.......84/100......no I would not purchase a full bottle( just not enough going on) I think Glenlivet is really shooting for smooth fruity malts without anything to turn off a beginner.

Revisiting this one myself it does have some redeeming qualities. A hint of wood, the slight leather but not enough to move the palate from viscous and sweet into the tannic range, which could have ruined this. It’s simple and harmless. Possibly the Basil Hayden of unpeated scotch? Would contrast with Macallan 12 as the even less harmless Buffalo Trace of scotch.
I imagine there must be some good older Glenlivet, but I'm sure it's massively overly priced.
I agree with you completely on this assessment. Good but not great....It really is a starter scotch, and then once your ready to take the training wheels off there’s no real need to go back.
Well Ive had the Founders Reserve and just bought the Caribbean as well(will post reviews on both) I have yet to find a four star caliber with any Glenlivet. Is the first fill a step up
Good review. Now you need to try the 12 year first fill.
