Pretty powerful aroma of cinnamon bears, stewed apples, caramel, pistachio nut, and hint of ethanol which comes across as an almost varnish-y note. Decent enough beginning.
Palate begins with over-ripe apples, pear, and clove, transitioning to a nice toasted marshmallow and leather in the mid-palate. Transitions pretty smoothly to the finish. Flavors neither muted nor rich; kind of right in the middle.
Short drying finish with cinnamon and lots of bitter oak. You can definitely tell this picked up some additional woodiness from the secondary barreling, so much so that it throws things out of balance.
Mouthfeel is thin. Quite frankly, could use some more heft.
Overall this is decent, but has some flaws and has suffered a little from overhyping I’m afraid. I paid $70 for it and there’s no way it’s worth that especially considering that EC Barrel Proof goes for the same price. Falls short of a rebuy.
