I found the nose overpowering and unfamiliar but as I drank it, it started opening up and I could pick out more relatable notes. I find the taste fascinating, it’s like a peat covered salt caramelized malt hay note. The more I drink the more notes I find behind the peat and the less over powering the peat becomes. The finish lingers with a light peat oil note lightly coating your mouth. First Islay I’ve tasted and it’s opened up what whiskey can be, fantastic drop.

Excellent choice to introduce yourself to the region! Laphroaig was a game changer for me as well when first sampled. Enjoy the journey!
