Laphroaig 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 22, 2020 (edited November 24, 2020)I found the nose overpowering and unfamiliar but as I drank it, it started opening up and I could pick out more relatable notes. I find the taste fascinating, it’s like a peat covered salt caramelized malt hay note. The more I drink the more notes I find behind the peat and the less over powering the peat becomes. The finish lingers with a light peat oil note lightly coating your mouth. First Islay I’ve tasted and it’s opened up what whiskey can be, fantastic drop.
