Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Reviewed November 23, 2020
4.5
4.5 out of 5 stars
Warehouse KE- Barrel 27-3D.. Enjoyed neat in a Glencairn. Nose: Bitter but very oaky, heavy floral notes with a nice sweetness, hint of vanilla in the end. Palate: Cherry syrup comes on strong (slightly tart) and sticks until the end, some vanilla sneaks through in the beginning. Oaky and floral flavors stick to the tongue as the cherry slowly fades. About midway through all of the different flavors start to blend together. Even though the sweetness starts strong, it ends semi-dry. Finish: Somewhat dry but it makes you want to take another refreshing sip. Without going right back to it the finish is pretty long. Definitely keeps you wanting more. Overall: Very rich and complex but doesn’t need your complete attention. It’s a great dram to sip on and enjoy. Not sure what foods would pair well with the heavy cherry syrup, maybe desserts, it’s very good on its own. I received this as a birthday gift, I haven’t ventured much in to Four Roses before this. I wish I wouldn’t have overlooked the brand for so long! After I finish this bottle, I will definitely be buying another!
