Warehouse KE- Barrel 27-3D.. Enjoyed neat in a Glencairn. Nose: Bitter but very oaky, heavy floral notes with a nice sweetness, hint of vanilla in the end. Palate: Cherry syrup comes on strong (slightly tart) and sticks until the end, some vanilla sneaks through in the beginning. Oaky and floral flavors stick to the tongue as the cherry slowly fades. About midway through all of the different flavors start to blend together. Even though the sweetness starts strong, it ends semi-dry. Finish: Somewhat dry but it makes you want to take another refreshing sip. Without going right back to it the finish is pretty long. Definitely keeps you wanting more. Overall: Very rich and complex but doesn’t need your complete attention. It’s a great dram to sip on and enjoy. Not sure what foods would pair well with the heavy cherry syrup, maybe desserts, it’s very good on its own. I received this as a birthday gift, I haven’t ventured much in to Four Roses before this. I wish I wouldn’t have overlooked the brand for so long! After I finish this bottle, I will definitely be buying another!

1792 Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2020 (edited December 30, 2020)Enjoyed neat in a Glencairn. Nose: Sweet caramel, almost flan-like. Some concentrated dark fruits. Sugar sweetness with oak. Palate: The palate closely resembles the nose, maybe even syrupy sweeter than the nose. Very smooth with a great mouthfeel. Sweet fruit towards the end. Some sweet cream with a somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Don’t be afraid of the sweetness because there is a slight floral and clove character with fresh mint that cuts through the sweetness. Finish: Like a bite of creme brûlée with a leaf of mint on top, some clove hangs around on the tongue. Overall: For the $30-$35 price point, this is an absolute steal! If you can find a barrel select version of 1792 BiB, you hit the jackpot. This bourbon is super smooth, sweet, floral and is a quintessential bourbon. One of my favorite go-to bourbons. Not a lot of hype behind it (yet) but it deserves it. Easy to pass over this on the shelf, but don’t! -
Enjoyed neat in a Glencairn. Nose: Vanilla extract, baking spice, banana peel; every other smell I get a hint of cola in the end. Palate: Soft flavor and thin body are the first things I noticed, the thin body really lasts the entire sip. The vanilla extract turns in to more of a raw vanilla bean. Butterscotch candy in sweetness and flavor. Some watery oakiness, hint of banana cream towards the end that gets overtaken by the wood. Finish: Soft and reminiscent of saw dust with a hint of cinnamon. Long finish especially for how thin it is. Overall: This was an enjoyable dram, but not sure I would go out of my way for it. I was keeping my eyes out for it for a couple months but got lucky to find it at my local Total Wine for around $45. It’s better than 1792 Small Batch but doesn’t hold a flame up to 1792 BiB, even though the ABV is 49.3% (compared to 50% in BiB) it does have a bit more alcohol coming through. The thin palate really hurts it... To me these single barrels and most single barrel whiskies can be hit or miss depending on the barrel, where is was placed in the barrel house, how long it was aged, among many other factors...
