Quick take on a couple of sips. It reminds me of a sweeter, fruitier (a bit of maraschino cherry especially), watered-down version of Campari. It seems like it would be good with some soda water (and wouldn't you know it, it recommends that on the back), but I'm skeptical that it will be a good substitute for Campari in a stronger cocktail that relies on fullness of flavor. It's not something that I would call either conclusively good or conclusively bad, but I'm leaning toward a thumbs down here. A spritzer may well change my mind though.

I’ve maybe sipped it straight once and it’s too sweet to be interesting. Definitely not a substitute for Campari IMO, just in the same family. I prefer 1 part Aperol, 2 parts dry white wine (brut sparkling or dry-ish still variety, like Pinot Grigio or the like), over ice with a heavy-handed dose of orange bitters, expressed orange peel, squeezed orange juice, or some combination of the three. But, sunshine is probably the final necessary ingredient. In that setting, I haven’t found an equal yet, although there are likely more subtle/elegant apertivo options out there.
Thanks for the tip about beer @Ancient33w . I've actually never had a cocktail with beer, so I always forget it's an option. I definitely suspect that I would view this more favorably in hot weather after figuring out a good cocktail for it :)
Hey this is a wonderful hot weather mixer with soda water or champagne. My favorite way to use this is with a beer. 1 oz of Aperol, 1/2 oz lemon juice, and 12 oz lighter beer. I have only tried this with lagers, pilsners, and light ales. It is an amazing hot weather drink.
