Ardbeg Blaaack
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

Nose has bacon bits, strawberry jam, mocha, sweet peat and ocean breeze. The palate is sweet and a little creamy on entry with caramel, mocha, peat and wine notes, but more like a good Argentinian Malbec than a Pinot Noir.
Finish is medium length and warming with a spicy mocha note.
Delicious!

@jdriip @ctbeck11 that’s a good perspective. I’ve generally heard that Ardbeg’s core range is so good that the primary benefit of the special releases is variety, but it tends to be a better value to stick to the classics.
@ctbeck11 It’s a nice special bottle by itself. But I recently included it in a Zoom Ardbeg tasting with some friends, and consensus was that the Uigeadail and Corryvreckan blew it away. And the An Oa gave it a run for the money.
Great notes! I’ve passed by this one a few times at the local store. Sounds like it’s one that might be worth picking up. I wonder if the price premium (~$120 in my area) is worth it over Ardbeg’s usual suspects.
@Ctrexman I picked it up in July at a local BevMo for $100 after the sale and discount coupon. I was really surprised they had it on sale.
Sounds real tasty but how much?
