This is a strange little dram. So, at first, I couldn’t stand the aroma. Almost like turpentine. But then, after a bit, it changed to wet leaves and hay. Palette as well...goes from grassy to herbal to ashy. I’m strangely attracted to it, like a moth to a flame. Not sure I’d want a full bottle, but a few pours is really well worth experimenting. Thanks @Richard-ModernDrinking for the generous sample—-this one was quite a trip.

@CKarmios @ContemplativeFox you guys are right. We know what to expect from the other islays, but bruichladdich has such a wide spectrum—-everything from black arts to Octomore
What I enjoy about this distillery is there’s always an interesting story to most everything they do. From how they resurrected the old distillery to this bottling that comes from an ancient, and inefficient, barley strain.
Seems like Bruichladdich has done a good job creating interesting releases that are well-executed. It'll be interesting to see if they can take the interesting change in the palate and apply it to other offerings without being quite so challenging :)
