Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve
Canadian — Ontario, Canada

What a revelation, an inexpensive Canadian whiskey that’s actually enjoyable!
Toffee, caramel, clean copper and light ethanol on the nose.
Sweet and creamy palate with toffee, caramel, milk chocolate, light baking spices and maybe some pecans.
Finish is sweet and on the shorter side with a hint of baking spices and a transitory bitter note.

@Jan-Case Same, never heard of it. Nor does it appear there’s anywhere near me to buy it.
@Jan-Case never heard of Shelter Point. I don’t think it’s available in the US either.
@Ctrexman quite right. I’m thinking it’ll take a number of raving reviews to convince me to buy Canadian. On the other hand, if one’s willing to offer, ‘tis not one’s place to say no.
@Jan-Case I’ll have to check it out!
@ctbeck11 @jdriip @Ctrexman @Milliardo Have you had the chance to taste a Canadian whisky from Shelter Point? I have been reading up about Canadian whisky because the regulation behind it are the strictest in the world and very interesting for that reason, but never had one because of its bad reputation. But Shelter Point sounds and seems to be something else. But it is impossible to get in Europe afaik.
I’m also very wary of Canadian whiskies. All I’ve reviewed slot in near the bottom of my ratings. But for $20, I’d be willing to take a leap of faith on it.
@Milliardo @Ctrexman I can see where you’re coming from. I have not yet tried a Canadian whiskey that wowed me. But I enjoyed this better than most $20 whiskies I’ve tasted.
Nice review but Im with Mill. I will never actually purchase a bottle of Canadian.....not saying I wont try it if its offered but buying is not gonna happen
“Canadian whiskey that’s actually enjoyable” - not a thing. I said it. 😂
