Traditionally on Mother’s Day, moms are honored with a breakfast—either cooked by the little ones or at a brunch celebration with the family. On this day, we think a spirited drink (or two) is deserved by anyone who has the hardest job in the world. With that in mind, here are a few suggestions that are great anytime, but especially when the sun’s shining.
Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto
Not only is the bottle gorgeous, so too is the liqueur within. Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto is an amber-colored citrus liqueur made with Calabrian bergamot oranges and Sicilian cedri. Acclaimed barman and Italian spirits expert Giuseppe Gallo adjusted the proportions and sweetness levels from a 19th century recipe for Rosolio. Additional ingredients such as lavender, roses, chamomile, melissa balm and gentian give the spirit dimension and complexity.
This is a no-brainer to add to your sparkling wine for a nice Spritz. But you can also serve this with equal parts gin. Just stir an ounce each over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail coupe. Olives are a great garnish, so make sure there are plenty to go around. You may drink more than one.

BarSol Acholado Pisco
Acholado piscos are created with a blend of grapes. In this instance, BarSol uses non-aromatic quebranta grapes predominantly with aromatic italia and torontel grapes making up the balance. This balance gives the pisco a complex outcome with a mix of floral and fruity flavors.
Peruvian piscos are unaged and although they can be sipped, they really shine in cocktails. Classic cocktails such as a Pisco Sour or a Pisco Punch are fine fare for daytime events.

Roku Gin
Created by Suntory, the Japanese drinks company perhaps best known for its Japanese whiskies, Roku just recently hit our shores. Roku means “six” in Japanese. The gin is so named for the six Japanese botanicals used in its creation. Sakura flower (cherry blossoms), sakura leaf (cherry leaf), sencha tea (green tea), Gyokuro tea (refined green tea), sanshō pepper and yuzu are utilized along with eight other traditional gin botanicals.

Brenne French Single Malt Whisky
Brenne is made from two different types of heirloom barley varieties, both of which grow organically around the distillery. While France has been distilling whisky for a few decades, this whisky stands out for its maturation in both French Limousin oak and former cognac barrels. With its floral and pastry cream flavors, Brenne French Whisky is a great choice for a daytime celebration.

Nooku Bourbon Cream
Nooku is made in Colorado by the same folks who make Old Elk Bourbon. This cream liqueur uses real cream and aged bourbon in its creation. The cream is sourced by Creamy Creations in New York. The bourbon is a high-malt that aged for two years. But that’s it. Those are the only two ingredients. In fact, the brand prides itself on foregoing the use of artificial coloring, flavoring or added sugar.
Nooku is the Native American name for the snowshoe rabbit that graces the front of each bottle. Add some to your coffee or hot chocolate for a weekend eye-opener beverage.
