Last month we announced that we’ve been hard at work on a completely new version of the Distiller app, and we’re now only a few weeks away from launching it. The entire app has been re-designed and re-built from the ground up, and we’ve made some really big changes to spirit pages, search, the feed and so much more. It’s lightning fast, it looks great and it’s incredibly stable. Distiller Pro, our premium membership, has also gotten a big boost. Let’s talk about what to expect from Distiller Pro when the new Distiller app launches in just a few weeks!
The Barcode Scanner
We’ve made some huge improvements to the barcode scanner. We have been hard at work over the past year painstakingly verifying tens of thousands of barcodes to create the largest and most comprehensive spirits barcode database in existence. We’re also adding new barcodes all the time, so the tool will only get better. The barcode scanner will be available from the main navigation and Distiller Pro members can use it with a completely ad-free experience.
Flavor search and filter
Perhaps the most exciting new feature is the ability for Distiller Pro members to search and filter by flavors. This is something that folks have been requesting for a very long time and we’re so excited to finally add it to the app. Now in addition to spirit names, countries and styles, Pro members will be able to search for specific flavors. Additionally, if you’re looking at a list of search results, you can tap the filters button to filter the results by specific flavors. Looking for something a bit peatier? Maybe something with a bit of vanilla? How about something with a bit of umami? Distiller Pro can do that.
Export reviews and lists
In the current version of the app, Pro members are only able to export their lists. Now, in addition to the ability to export lists, you’ll also be able to export your personal reviews. Both will come out as csv files so you can do anything you want with them.
Bottle quantities and total counts in lists
In any list of your spirits you’ll now have a much simpler and easier way to add bottle quantities. We’re also fulfilling another user request by adding the total count of bottles to lists. It’s a great way to keep track of your growing collection.
What else is included?
In addition to these new features are things that already make the Distiller Pro membership great. You’ll still enjoy an ad-free experience, see your Distiller Pro badge on your profile picture, receive the weekly Pro Perks email full of giveaway and discount opportunities, and get priority support for any issues you might run in to.
Changes to pricing
With all of these improvements to Distiller Pro and the new app comes a change in the price as well. Starting with the launch of the new app in a few weeks, Distiller Pro will increase in price to $4.99 a month or $48 for the year.
If you are already a Distiller Pro member, you will stay at the old price as a thank you for being an early adopter. That means that you only have a few weeks left to lock in the old price before it changes forever. If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to upgrade to Distiller Pro, now is the time!
