10Captain Morgan rum is named for a real 17th century Welsh admiral of the Royal Navy who is known for protecting the Caribbean against the Spanish. Private Stock is made from a select blend of casks "plundered" from its reserves. These are aged, molasses-based rums that have been mixed with tropical spices.

9The island of Kaua’i is where the Kōloa Rum Company is located. Their rum is distilled from crystallized sugar and is not aged. Their spiced offering is made with a proprietary spice blend and caramel color.

8Bringing rum production back to its American source, Louisiana Spirits' Bayou Rum is made using state-grown and processed molasses and raw sugar. Their spiced variation starts out as the others, with a pot-still rum made according to their own "sugar house recipe" and triple-filtered spring water. The blend of spices is all sourced from within Louisiana .

7Chairman's Reserve Spiced Rum is a blended rum made from both column and pot distilled rums aged for 5 years in American oak with an additional 6 months after blending. To make the spiced rum, a blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, coconut, allspice, lemon, and orange are used. If that’s not enough to pique your interest, it also includes Bois Bande, an herb rumored to have, shall we say, aphrodisiac effects.

6Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum is a dry, spiced rum aged between 3 to 6 years and naturally flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Released in early 2017, it is bottled at 45% ABV without added artificial coloring or flavoring.

5Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced Rum is named in honor of a British troopship that sank off the island of St. Kitts in 1782 and was recently rediscovered. This rum is distilled from fermented molasses before being aged for at least four years in charred American oak barrels.

4Canerock is a spiced rum from Maison Ferrand featuring 100% Jamaican aged rums. These rums, distilled at Long Pond and Clarendon, were distilled in pot & column stills and were aged from 5-10 years. The natural spices used here are vanilla from Madagascar, coconuts from the Caribbean, and ginger from Jamaica. These ingredients were infused individually before blending with the rum. Lastly, the blended rum is finished in PX sherry casks for several months. Available as of August 2022. (SRP $29.99)

3When pirates ruled the Seven Seas, they were known to partake of a spiced grog called Bumbu made from ingredients procured in their travels. The modern take of this concoction consists of spices and sugarcane selected from 8 countries - Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guyana and Honduras. It is distilled at the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados. The rum is aged in first-fill bourbon casks with the oldest spirit aged 15 years. It's bottled at 35% ABV.

1Twenty Boat Cape Cod Amber is handcrafted at the site of Truro Vineyards and is produced at the first legal distillery on Cape Cod since Prohibition. It consists of American organic sugarcane and a blend of spiced sourced from a local Cape Cod spice supplier. Among others, it includes cardamom, vanilla bean, cinnamon, rosehip, anise, lemon and orange peels, allspice, nutmeg, and chai.
