Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 21, 2022 (edited September 8, 2024)If I wanted bourbon, I would've asked for bourbon. This was probably the worst tasting single malt I've ever had; especially due to the fact it's supposedly aged 16. It's harsh, not smooth in the least bit and just an all-around not enjoyable whiskey. -
It's funny, I liked this briefly with a small sample bottle. Got a 750ml bottle and couldnt finish it; it was too heavy, too syrup-like. Flavor, imo, doesn't work as a bourbon (or any other type of whiskey for that matter). Tasted almost like a maple flavored cough medicine after (1) 4oz glass, so perhaps for some it would be fine with 1 smaller 2oz glass and no moreSuper Buy Rite

Love this! Forgive me, not good with picking out notes but all I know is it's without of a doubt one of my favorite bourbons. Favorite to drink this one in particular is slightly chilled, no water but with cold stones or sticking the bottle in icy water or leaving outside in colder months (or snow)35.0 USD per BottleWine Central

The whiskey that got me into whiskey. I have a soft spot for it, which is why I gave it a 3.25 rating. Water is added already, so one could argue it's a waste of money but it's tasty & smooth. This was the whiskey recommended to me by a store owner when I asked for a whiskey as a beginner. After which I further expanded and learned more. And although I haven't bought one of these in a few years, I also recommend it to beginners. It's a nice light but tasty drink. Not good to use in a mix. Not all that much characterWarren

I like this. It's usually my 'go-to' if I want an average but good Single Malt and not pay much. Doesn't have an exorbitant amount of character, nothing to write home about, but it's dependable and tasty. Adding water does not seem to release all that much, only making it too light. Definitely like it better than the 14. Smoother & tastier.Wine Central
