The most superior of unaged whiskies that I have tasted. Yes: it IS raw...but still good. You know how carpaccio is a dish composed of raw beef tenderloin? It's good! The tenderloin is better when properly cooked, but you still won't pass up a well executed carpaccio. That is how this rye is to me. Not at all disappointing. In fact: much better than I expected. I have taken three pours from my buddy Patrick's bottle...and I will probably finish it.

Heaven Hill White Label (80 Proof)

Meh-beg. Peat: yep. Sweetness: yep. Bandages: a little bit. Burn: yep-but more than I wanted. To me, it is not as smooth as I would have hoped for; and I'm getting a wee bit of the sherry cask. I'm not a fan of the sherried whiskies that I had. Gimmie Laphroaig 10 over this; but I would not be overly disappointed with a gill of Ardbeg at any time.

McLaughlin Distillery 3799 Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Pennsylvania , USA
Reviewed May 8, 2020 (edited December 17, 2021)Varies from batch to batch, but the 100% corn, exquisitely aromatic, mash bill delivers a sweetness that can't be missed. Heavy oakey char on the palate. Appropriately and pleasantly warm the whole drink through. It's a pricier bottle for me; however the support of the local guy and the passion put into each bottle is worth it.69.99 USD per BottleMcLaughlin Distillery
