Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 8, 2018 (edited August 23, 2019)NOSE: Fresh blood orange, juicy peaches, marzipan, bitter orange marmalade, apple cider, cinnamon. TASTE: Like a fresh buttery chardonnay. Hold 10s to get a knockout punch of spicy cinnamon and fresh ginger. Sharp 70% dark chocolate on the finish. OVERALL: Juiciest whisky I’ve had, very fresh and delicious. NOSE: It’s like a damp pine forest with fresh green grasses, with a doused campfire from the night before adding gentle smoky notes. Quite unique. TASTE: Lime zest. Salted taffee. Green apple peel. Bold, but harmonious. FINISH: White pepper with green apples stays with you, lacking any oaky bitterness or spicyness. OVERALL: One of the best tasting whiskeys I’ve tried. Real, deep flavors rather than the usual sweet, spicy burn.Empire Of Steel Barbers
