Tastes

A free bottle from the Spectator Magazine. Although not my own words, the 'experts' notes are perfect: " The nose displays vanilla cream, citrus zest, and nectarine and as you continue the journey, toasted malt, butterscotch, and golden raisins are there to greet you. The peat smoke present and accounted for, but is a smoldering fire at best." Very sweet, very smooth with only a very slight, if any kick. Quite a bitter aftertaste that doesnt seem to go away :( this bitterness lost this whiskey a whole star whilst writing this review.

Liquid gold, at least in the sense that it almost costs as much! The taste is very pleasant, clearly well developed and complex. To my amateur palate it was clearly high quality and very tasty, but i would struggle to justify the £1000 proce point. Nice box though!

Aromas of frazzles, but a flavour that doesnt match. A strong and long lasting taste with a alcoholic breath. Lightly peated with peppery, savoury, almost beefy notes. A nice tipple, but imo not a 'session' whiskey.

Immediately sweet with a gentle sharpness. A balanced peatiness with a briny aftertaste and very subtle mustiness like that of a salami or aged cheese. Edit: as i near the end of the bottle. The drink is pleasant, but nothing special and nothing to savour.

Sweet, subtle, smooth flavour. Chocolatey aftertaste. Good, easy drink. Perfect for people new to whisky.
