Tastes

This is “heat” done right. So rich and sweet on the nose with strong vanilla and brown sugar presence. But immediately when it hits your tongue the heat fans out and branches into Cherries and Cinnamon. Mellows out in a long finish that still carries a sweetness. This is a cold-weather, stuck inside kind of bourbon without a doubt. Requires a few drops of water too in my opinion.

This is a very simple and well rounded blended scotch. Sweet and peat on the nose - thick honey and slight vanilla followed by an even whiff of peat that smells like you’re sitting next to a peat fire. Very palatable but not complex. Got bored trying to break down flavors after 30 seconds and realized it’s just an easy sipper. Probably a good intro to peated whisky. My grandpa loved this stuff so I had to try it. Probably wouldn’t buy again though.

Sweet honey soaked raisins, fresh tobacco, and cherry pie on the nose. Port cask comes through as black cherries on the palate. Very sweet and rich with a touch of spice on the back end. Doesn’t need any water to open up, but flavor profile continues to expand the more you taste this whiskey.

I give it a 3 because of the value - 2.75 if it were only based on taste. Certainly goes down smoother than regular Jameson but I didn’t get enough of the richness of the stout barrels. It worked well neat, but might have to give this one a shot on the rocks next

Immediately hit with the sweet caramel/honey on the nose. Coats the inside of your mouth immediately and goes down very smooth. Had it in an Old Fashioned as well, and it was so much better standing on it’s own - not sure it’s completely worth $130/btl, but good stuff.

I really liked this for a Bourbon and have heard it is a real steal for the price considering the depth of flavors. My palate pulled ‘peach’ fruitiness up front with a fresh green pepper spiciness throughout. Smooth rounded oak as well.

Very smooth pleated flavor throughout. Strong iodine and smoked fish towards the front as well. Salty burn in the middle. At the back end, you’re really left with the Smokey flavors. Bacon flavors not coming through as expected.

Not a super complex whisky, but has a very balanced peat taste/nose. Sweet and smooth - vanilla was brought out by addition of water. A steal for a $5 dram at the local bar.

Sweet - Candied pecans and maple. Subtle peat. Cask flavors really shine through. A top 5 everyday sipper.

I really like this one for a Bourbon. It falls off a little fast, but vanilla/raisin/caramel flavors shine through in mouth and nose. Great for winter!
