Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed February 13, 2021 (edited July 19, 2021)Ever since I embarked on my whisky journey, I was intrigued by the Highland Park 18. Already charmed by the nose and taste of it's younger brother, the Highland Park 12, I could only hope that the added age would make this experience even more memorable. The high score of this whisky on Distiller also fueled my curiosity. Nose - Very delicate. Not as 'sharp' as his younger brother. Sweet (vanilla, honey, raisin) and fruity (apple, lemon, grape) on the nose. I also get hay, moss, nutmeg and anise. Palate - Sweet and sour. The mouthfeel is smooth, buttery and doesn't burn. Also a little bit of pepperiness on the background. Finish - Challenging without being overly complex. I get sour apples, lemon, tangerine, honey, frangipane, vanilla ice-cream. I tried adding a few drops of water to this whisky, but it doesn't do it justice. This whisky clearly had more time to mature and to develop different accents compared to his 12 year old brother. The 18 contains many more layers and is therefore worth your time to analyse. "Excellent" : 4 stars | Really quite exceptional.12.0 EUR per Pour -
Springbank 18 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed January 1, 2021 (edited August 29, 2021)A wonderful expression from Springbank. It has the slightest bit of peat on the nose, while still being very sweet and fruity; apricots, oranges, apples and grapes. The palate is complex, creamy and full of flavours. This whisky ends into a beautiful finish that is medium long, dry and has an excellent mouthfeel. A dram that one will surely remember, either for loving it or hating it. "Excellent" : 4.25 stars | Really quite exceptional.145.0 EUR per Bottle -
On the nose, the peat is present with rich caramel, anise, sherry and a bit of spice. The palate is soft and complex, with a hint of fine herbs and peppery peat. There is just enough smoke and spice in the finish to make you notice but it's delicious and sweet, with that sightly salty flavor. An amazing whisky that is very enjoyable when in the right mood. "Enjoyable" : 3.75 stars | Well above average.13.5 EUR per Pour

The Laphroaig PX Cask is an interesting and a more approachable member of the Laphroaig family. The nose is woody, smokey and has an overall sweet profile. The palate is rich and woody, with a dry mouthfeel. Long finish with tobacco, cherry, peat and spice. Not a daily drinker, but a nice addition to the lineup. "Tasty" : 3.25 stars | A cut above.6.0 EUR per Pour

Chivas Regal 18 Year Gold Signature
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed December 22, 2020 (edited May 26, 2021)A solid, easy-drinking and generally balanced blended Scotch that is much more delicate than his 12 year old brother. I get green apples and citrus on the nose. The palate is pleasant and balanced and has the slightest bit of peat on the background. Finish is medium long, sweet and honeyed, with enough spice to make you long for the next sip. "Good" : 2.75 stars | Good, just fine.4.0 EUR per Pour -
Talisker 2010 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 20, 2020 (edited August 29, 2021)This 10 year old whisky shares a lot of similarities with the normal ‘Talisker 10’. While this expression is more fruity on the nose, it is a little unpleasant to me due to the phenols. The taste more than makes up for it and has enough peat and spice to compliment the fruityness of this whisky. The finish is sweet, peppery and overall shorter than his 10 year old brother. "Tasty" : 3.25 stars | A cut above.48.0 EUR per Bottle -
