    This was my first foray into Japanese whiskey. Not so welcoming on the nose, but overall a smooth drink. "Good" : 2.75 stars | Good, just fine.

    This is my favorite Ardbeg expression to date, and maybe the best whisky I have ever tasted. The bottle states "treacle, bacon and bonfires", and it's pretty spot on. Apart from the strong smoke, I also get tabacco, honey and some grassy notes on the nose. The palate is a balance between sweet, spicy, and smoky. The sweetness and spice stays through into the long finish and is warming and soothing on the throat. This whisky deserves a place on my top shelf, and probably also on yours. "Incredible" : 4.75 stars | An all time favorite.

    My first peated Scotch. It hits you with a bursts of smoke on the nose but that disappears quickly and you are left with sweat lingering after taste. "Excellent" : 4 stars | Really quite exceptional.

    As a beginner, I find this whisky quite challenging. Rich with spicy notes. Slight burn, but not too harsh. I probably need some more time to get familiar with the flavor profile. "Sub-par" : 2 stars | Not bad, but many things I’d rather have.
