Tastes

Nice peaty smell when opening the bottle. Unfortunately this disappeared quite fast. Slightly smoky, but no more than that. Nice oaky flavours though. Red fruits. Well rounded, full bodied. Would have preferred a bit more peatiness though, but a good dram nonetheless!

Typical bourbon cask whisky. Light fruits, vanilla and of course the Islay peat... Smoky, peaty, sweet. Nice for a change, but nowhere near as good as the 16.

Nose: peaty, sulphur, I recognise the Machir Bay notes but more subdued. Smoke, lemon. Brown sugar. Taste: Sweet smokiness, dark fruit notes, rich and full. Medium body. Nice balance between the smoke and the fruity sweetness. Finish: Red fruits, cake, smoke, medium.

Nose: Smoke, peat, slightly medicinal, maritime, lemony sweetness behind the smoke. Taste: Sweet smoky peat, lemony, vanilla, reminds me of Ardbeg although more smoky, less peaty. Finish: Medium. Smoke and sweet vanilla notes linger, peat in the back.

My first bourbon in a loooong time. Resembles the ones I had (JD, JB, Blanton's) at first as far as I remember. Vanilla, caramel sweetness. Quite spicy too. A bit sharp, no mellow drinker. Didn't like it at first, but as the bottle progressed it grew on me. Less spicy would've been better though.

Omg...almost have to chew, it's so thick. First Octomore, definitely not the last. Nose is less smoky than expected. Sweet, vanilla, maybe some cheese. Salty smoke in the background. Very thick mouthfeel. Vanilla, smokiness, warming. Gentle smoke, but very present. Not medicinal, more of a salty, savoury smokiness. Long, warm finish. Smoke lingers. The smokiness is not smack-in-the-face. It sort of coats the whisky. Sweetness and smoke are fighting for the attention.

Nose: red fruit, marmelade, dark cherries with charred wood smoke. Taste: sweet, fruity, full bodied, red fruits, smoke. Finish: long, warm, salty, ash. Little piece of heaven in a glass!

Earthy peat on the nose with a hint of vanilla. Sharp alcohol at first. Warming, medicinal, sweetness. Long smoky and peppery finish.

Floral peat on the nose, sweetness. Palate is sweet, honey, red fruits, smokey, warm. Long finish, red fruits and slightly medicinal.

Medicinal, but sweet! Peat, smoke, vanilla. Lovely!
