You'd never think if someone blind-folded you that this Scotch had been in a rum cask. While there is some spice, there is greater taste of plums, apples, cherries and warm caramel in the palate. A touch of oak and leather as it finishes with just a hint of the rum to compliment the other flavors. A great whiskey for it's price, and even lovelier with a few drops of water to open it up.

Not a terribly great rye. Bulleit actually doesn't distill this, but buys the barrels from MGP in Indiana and bottles it under their label.

This tastes like a dessert. Sweet and velvety from the notes to the palate, the finish is thick and spicy. Not a bourbon I think it worth it's price; there are much more balanced and better sipping bourbons out there at the same price or less.

One of my favorite bourbons to gift as you get a lot of bang for your buck. This is a dram of clean, full bourbon. The nose picks up the sweetness of caramel, plums and oak. The palate is a soft mixture of honey, apples, and a hint of vanilla. You finish with cinnamon. It's not terribly complex, but this is a bourbon that doesn't need to be.

The bill on this bourbon is heavy on the rye and it shows. The vanilla is one of the first scents you'll encounter on the nose, but it crispens with some orange in your mouth and finishes in a kick of spices that trail down your throat, leaving heat. There's also a bit of roughness at the end. This is a nice bourbon, but it just didn't wow me.

I'm more of a bourbon drinker as I shie away from smokier and peatier whiskies. This Scotch is delightful though. Clean yet complex it begins with fruit and sweetness on the nose and finishes on spices, sherry, and a bit of heat. A few drops of water really opens this single malt up.

Creamy and silky smooth. Vanilla, maple, and caramel are prominent. Cherries linger in the background with a touch of spice as the bourbon finishes on a whisp of oakey smoke. Not the most challenging of bourbons, but this is a wonderful affair to sip and enjoy at your leisure. Highly recommended as an after-dinner spirit.
