Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon 90 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2020 (edited July 16, 2020)Not sure where all the low reviews are coming from. The distiller snobs are worse than the vivino snobs. This is a high quality, full flavored bourbon. Each bottle is different depending on what floor and what warehouse it’s bottled from. My bottle was floor 1 warehouse I. What makes it unique is the candied fruit flavor on the palate. The nose has cotton candy and a fruity scent that draws you in. On the palate as stated strong flavors of candied fruit and a nice viscous body. While not a super oily bourbon, it has just enough to let it sit on your tongue and hang out for a while. On the finish you get a little bit of spice, licorice, and cinnamon from the rye that’s not overwhelming. Old forester nailed it on this offering. -
Too bad you can’t find the 12 yr anymore. I’ll waiting patiently while stock ages to the point where it will be released again. Sadly I’m sure once re-released will be price gouged as this bourbon was being sold for $25-$28 a bottle here in California which was a steal. Lots of vanilla and caramel and as smooth of a bourbon as you can find.
