got as gift: N: malt, faint sea air T: white bread, light honey, corn sweetness, opens up to fruit sweetness (grapes) F: medium length, some bitterness like soda water. water brings out a sharp pineapple note at end. nothing spectacular from the ipa process but a solid drinkable whiskey, better than regular glenfiddich 12. knowing the price, would choose something else such as bourbon finish glenfiddich.

Found a dusty old bottle in Dad's cabinet, probably 25 years since opening. Only a few drams were left at the bottom, so perhaps a fair test: N: sweet wheat bread, acetone T: thin mouthfeel, astringent, light speyside blend notes but hard to get to. peaches, barley, rye bread crust. light smoke. F: too weak to burn, and a punishment is a surprisingly long bitter aftertaste. faint raisins, cloves, apple skins. would never recommend, but etched in memory of an evening with family exploring the liquor cabinet!

look: orangy hue, and not just from the cheesy looking label. stands out from others when in sun, almost like a cough syrup. nose: vanilla, banana, some spice, light cherry, sweat, liggt sandalwood taste: oaky, cherry, cloves, anise, and orange peel. finish: watery popsicle stick, not long. some pepper, forgettable. final: a bit dilute at 40%, bonded version is far better. good value for a high rye lovers, good to keep around to introduce people to bourbon. prefer beam or evan willams BIB for at this pricepoint.

Simply Amazing! Stumbled on it in a bar that I think priced it a bit too low. heard about it had to give it a try. nutty, some dark berries and fruit on the nose, complex and long finish. absolutely worth a try if you like four roses, or a smooth High Rye. Not sure about age but very smooth and well-made. definitely getting this again and for the private collection at home

nose: red delicious apple, nutmeg, rye spice (nutmeg) entry: sweet fruit and intense, like a chewing gum. green apple acidity and tartness gives way to dull cinnamon and white pepper. thick and you feel it going down. finish: long. still spicy but with cantaloupe. water brings out lemongrass and citric tartness. a must buy, esp if a high rye bourbon lover like myself. want to add a spoonful to my favprite bourbons and experiment!
