Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 25, 2021 (edited February 17, 2021)Very mediocre when first opened. Let it sit for a month or two and boy has it opened up. Like chocolate rolled in a bowl of sweetness, hints of orange, small notes of pickle brine, and a hearty beechnut tobacco finish blended with the sweetness. Do yourself a favor and buy this bottle. Let it breathe for a while and come back to it again later. -
Leathery nose, slightly sweet on the palate. Initial orange mixed with a slight heat. Not overwhelming, but let’s you know it’s there. The heat seems to stick around longer than the flavor in the first few sips. Medium finish, some taste of leather here and there. Would drink again if offered, but would not buy another bottle.
