Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2019 (edited May 6, 2019)A wonderfully cacophonous whiskey that felt high pitched in tone, with a subtly tart quality beneath a pleasantly smooth start to finish. I get cherries clearly with a hint of licorice (anise) on the finish. On the nose, I'm reminded of a wet, mossy forest. The high corn bill is unmistakable. Very lown burn for something only 7 years old. Worth the price I paid.43.0 USD per BottleCherry Hill NJ -
Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2019 (edited May 6, 2019)I wouldn't say banana pudding, like the expert review, but I would say something along the lines of maple syrup pudding or caramel pudding? definitely smooth and very drinkable, but maybe a bit cloying -
This whiskey is really just fine, especially for $30 a bottle. The nose has an above average burn, but is pleasantly sweet with a cherry blossom, strawberry, raspberry, and pear quality. A little bit of caramel or caramel apple is evident when nosing from a distance. The body is thinner than I want, and I bet this whiskey would be amazing if it had a thicker or more oily texture. The flavor is fruity and sweet, with a hint of coffee and toffee on the back end. Maybe there's something of a cafe con leche flavor going on.30.0 USD per Bottle

Far too much acetone on the nose. Faint undertones of sweetness in the aroma, but only when using a light touch. Taste is actually quite nice, but hard to separate from the alcohol burn in the nose. There is a sweet, light fruitiness to this with hints of something green and leafy.60.0 USD per Bottle
