Tastes

Too much going on for me to explain. I love it. I can pick out some leather and oak and spicy caramel candies. But it really is a complex bourbon worthy of someone with a much more refined palate.

Very simple. Much better than it gets credit for. Sweet and leathery. Great to have as a daily drinker. Unfortunately the Weller hype train makes it impossible to find and/or priced higher than intended.

I love it! Cinnamon without being too hot mixed with the oak! Leathery tobacco on the end.

Cinnamon to leather to cinnamon to leather from the first sniff to the last hot remnants left on my tongue. To me, very simple. Maybe some red fruit making noise in the background.

Smell the hay, for sure. Sweet and fruity- the specific fruit is not coming to me. Good deal of afterburn on the tongue, but it hurts so good with that sweetness.

I get the vanilla and cinnamon nose. Smells as potent as the ABV suggests. Tough at this point in my bourbon experience to get over the heat neat. Introduce limestone water. Still a beast. Hot hot hot. Cut it more. This water seems to really enhance the smell btw. Finally tolerable. I can’t get much cherry, but leather (and maybe smoke) city.

Vanilla, caramel, and fruit (orange?) on the nose. Fruit stronger on the palate. Having trouble finding the toffee, but the leather is the final taste before my tongue is just left numb from the heat. Slight saltiness also, maybe.

I think I do get the Heath bar on the nose. Flavor is much more spicy than I’m used to in bourbon. Heat is more like a rye. Get the noted cinnamon. It is definitely thick and rich; oil-like.

Nose is strong cherry then oak. As the two mix in the middle it’s just lovely. The palate is still difficult to me to describe, but it’s kind of brown sugar (?) and licorice (?) up front, then the oak comes closing back in on the back end. I’m not usually a huge oak fan, but this is just done so damn well.
