Plantation XO 20th Anniversary Rum
Aged Rum — Barbados
Reviewed June 7, 2023 (edited December 16, 2023)The Plantation XO 20th Anniversary offers a clear, red amber color and presents long legs indicative of its quality. On the nose, it exhibits dominant notes of oak and butterscotch, subtly complemented by cream and banana foster. The palate reveals a harmonious blend of cream, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, brown sugar, and a slight hint of citrus, encased in a full, smooth texture. A medium finish follows, leaving a pleasant trail of creamy butterscotch that gently transitions into a soft buttered banana note. However, some might find it lacking in surprising elements or an enduring complexity. Overall Score: 4.31/569.99 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 28, 2023JD in peak form. I will say the proofed down SB is very good as well as the bonded. All are great variations on the same baseline profile and a study in proofing. -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2022 (edited February 8, 2023)Truly phenomenal for the price point. Great mixed. Shows it’s weakness neat. But again, price considered, it’s lovely. Would go WT101 for budget neat and this for mixing. Don’t be a snob. -
Perfectly acceptable, and vastly superior to their main stable. Candy apple, vanilla, a bit of smoke, much smoother than expected. Finish is lackluster and I see where people are getting bitter/plastic/sour. It’s not enough for me to refuse it if offered, but I probably will have this be my only purchase of the liquor.
