Tastes

Belmont Beverage pick. 102 pf. Spicy. Chewing makes it more pronounced.

Neck pour. Potent, sweet then oak comes in. Lot of heat but not overpowering. Warming long finish with a hug.

Meijer 2022 Barrel Select. (98.6pf). Definitely a step up.from normal HWDR, but you'll pay for that too. Not cheap. Nose- Vinous, inviting and tart. Palate- Tannic, fruity and tart but a lingrring bitter aftertaste. Smooth. Finish- medium and little hear but some bitter li gerung aftertaste.

Lots of smoke up front. Grape, fruity on the back end. Very smooth.

Dill on the nose. Very little sweetness. Herbal.and spicy. Lasting finish. A good savory but not sweet rice. Nice mouthfeel.

Neck pour. I believe the proof is higher than stated here. Interesting flavor, actually pretty tasty and more on the savory than sweet notes. Does not seem strong or astringent. Aspen wood leaves an note resting woody finish. Very drying on the back end. Finish is short and dominated by wood and spice. Would like to see them try this with older juice, but this is not a bad introduction to their spirits for me.
