It’s not a bad whisky......... it’s just plain, mellow, blends in, light feeling. If you want an easy sipper, this is it. For the price, I’d rather spend a couple more dollars for a Russell 10 yr or a basil Haden.

when you want something sweet and feel upscale.......

C917, 131proof. $63 after tax in northern VA. tried it neat out of a new bottle. lots of heat. added a couple small ice cubes and gave it 5 minutes to breath- much nicer. I pick up most of the notes described in the professional review, but I mostly get the spices and barrel. I like it, it's good. but I'm not wow'd. feels like something is missing, but not sure what. tried it again months later (may 2018). went with the large ice cube. very nice, mellow up front with a little burn on the back end. better experience 2nd time around.

prefer it with a small ice cube. took a couple days to win me over. if you take it neat, the spice is high. a small ice cube mellows it out a bit while bringing the secondary sweetness forward a bit. this could become a staple in my collection.

neat- you really get the spiciness. the port still shows through. great complexity. add a little water- the sweetness really shines, spiciness takes a back seat. this guy has vaulted high on my list. if you can find it and like Port finished bourbons.... get it.

a new co-worker bought everyone a shot. loved it at first sip. nice aroma, pleasantly sweet. I could have drank Maker's 46 all night.

this is the oldest bourbon I've had. it's smooth, mellow and immediately I began sipping slower and slower. enjoying each sip more. it really opens up after 5 minutes in the glass. I added a couple drops of water. I'd buy this again. Had a second glass the other day. Add a little water to bring out the sweetness. This is fantastic. Grab a glass if you can.
