Reviewed October 27, 2018 (edited November 2, 2018)This is batch #58, the third batch of a A’Bunadh of that I’ve tasted. I loved the other two for batches, #50, and the other was in the mid-40s (my apologies for not being able to remember which one), because of their aromatics, sweetness and complexity. Batch 58, however, was disappointing. The nose reminds me of stewed fruits and oak, but there’s also an unpleasant resinous aspect to the nose that wasn’t present in the other two batches that I’ve had. The mouth feel is fairly rich. The palate shows concentrated flavors of burnt brown sugar, spice, and bitter woody or resiny flavor, which compete before the tongue is numbed by the 61% alcoholic blast. A little water tames the alcohol, but the flavors still come through. However the bitterness(for my taste) is unpleasant and detracts from the enjoyment . Compare to the other two batches it was much less complex. I really enjoyed the older versions. I hope that the #58 is a one-off, and not the beginning of a trend.
