It’s a good flavored whiskey. Former Beam engineer suggested it and I’m glad I tried it with him but wouldn’t order it again. While sipping it I struggled to imagine what mixed drink it would do well in. Overall, compared to traditional bourbon, its poor - wouldn’t consume again by choice. As a flavored whiskey though, it’s good, just fine.

Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon

Reviewed June 28, 2022 (edited September 4, 2022)I've tried almost all of the ten mash bill and yeast strain combinations now and I think this OBSO might be my favorite. Generally prefer high-rye bourbons but the fruitiness of this one and at 117 proof — this is perfect. Exemplary selection by OHLQ. This one is a little different than my previous single barrel selects. Sweeter and none of that delicious Beam peanut funk. But still excellent - really quite exceptional. 1 oz blind sample. Nose: it’s subtle. Kind of difficult to pull notes from. Smokiness, light oak. Reminds me of the Eric Church JD sample I got a short while ago. Palate: spicy - like cinnamon/all spice. Granny Smith apple. Kind of hard to pull notes from again. Finish: medium in length. Slight spice dances around the cheeks which I enjoy. Bit dry which I find those green apples to be. Finish is probably my favorite part of this one. Proof: on the lower end. ~95 Overall: very good - a cut above.

Reviewed June 3, 2022 (edited August 19, 2022)I don't see a bottling date on this bottle, but I'm going to assume it's just over 4 years old. I think it's a bit pricy for what it is but it is still great - well above average. Total Wine & More "Story Time" Single Barrel Number: 7849739 Proof: 115 Barreled: 11/27/201769.99 USD per Bottle -
