Tastes

Very unique. Immediately hit with cinnamon, cardamom and other spices on the nose, as well as maple syrup and black pepper. Very sweet on the mouth with the rye flavors coming thru nicely, followed by more black pepper. It finishes with the sweetness of the rum casks serving up heavy maple syrup notes that linger on for a while. Overall a little sweeter than I like my ryes, but definitely interesting nonetheless!

Had a pour for my birthday and it was delicious. Amazingly not over-aged, it’s smooth from start to velvety finish. All the traditional notes of a great bourbon with the only potential downside being not very many surprises either.

This particular Double Oaked bottle is a Total Wine & More barrel pick, and it is pretty amazing. Dark amber in color with a nose that is packed full of vanilla and burnt caramel. The mouth delivers more of that plus a sweet campfire complexity that is rich and wonderful. It finishes with a very pleasant hint toasted bread. Smooth, oaky, and extra sweet from start to finish, this is one of my favorites!

Complex on the nose and even more complex on the palette. Intense dark cherry notes were a very welcome surprise. Glad I picked up a bottle and will definitely be coming back for more!
