Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2021 (edited July 14, 2021)This is some amazing stuff! Floral notes, apple cinnamon spice, and slight menthol on the nose. The palate is rounded and buttery that coats your mouth. The finish is where the rye spice and wood char finally shows up, along with a bit of a dry feeling. All of this comes at you from a cask strength rye where the alcohol is not all that noticeable. Will be thoroughly enjoying this bottle to the very end. -
This is a solid, if unspectacular bourbon. Lots of vanilla and caramel sweetness on the nose with subtle hint of the smokiness that will follow on the palate. As advertised on the nose, the palate starts with some smokiness that then gives way back to the vanilla sweetness of the nose. The finish involves a bit of heat and spice but does not last overly long. Certainly an enjoyable pour, especially with the surprise smoke flavors that are present.

First note on the nose was banana bread, which then gave way to slight caramel with the faintest hint of smoke. Front of the palate is dominated by oak spice, with a hint of butterscotch sweetness. Finish fades quickly with spice notes that linger. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily. Overall lots of classic Beam present here, with the additional oak spice bumped up by the extra oak finishing.

I get a good amount of brown sugar on the nose, with some hints of cereal grain attached. The palate consists of mainly cereal grains from the nose mixed with some pepper that tickles the palate. The finish is quick and dry, leaving the pepper notes of the palate as the dominant expression. Absolutely enjoyable, only the finish leaves something to be desired due to the richness of the notes that are apparent on the nose and palate.33.99 USD per Bottle

Jefferson's Very Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 26, 2021 (edited April 4, 2021)Everything about this bourbon is "little". There is a little bit of vanilla and maybe butter on the nose. The palate has little notes of the same, with a hint of pepper and corn added in. The finish is basically nonexistent. Nothing off-putting, but nothing remarkable or memorable.34.99 USD per Bottle -
Lots of banana and vanilla on the nose, a small hint of corn mash. These notes carry over to the palate as well without much complexity being added. There is some very faint heat and spice that moves from the palate through to the finish. Overall, nothing more than your standard Jack, but that does not mean there is anything wrong with it either. Simple, but satisfying.

Uncle Nearest 1856 Tennessee Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2021Such a good pour! Lots of caramel and butterscotch on the nose. Vanilla owns the palate, with some baking spice kicking in. The finish is balanced with the vanilla fading and some oak spice taking over. Overall reminds me of Noah's Mill.14.0 USD per Pour -
Black Maple Hill Limited Edition Purple Label
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2021 (edited June 16, 2022)Kind of a strange pour. A very faint nose, but you pick up hinta of floral notes, cloves, and perhaps even fresh dough. The palate starts off with the same floral notes from the nose and then adds some vanilla and some oak spice. Finish fades quickly and is quite dry. Reminds me most of the Willett Pot Still, but not as engaging.89.0 USD per Bottle
