Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Chocolate Malted Rye Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 18, 2019 (edited December 25, 2019)The chocolate is not flavoring, which some have thought when I tell them about this, but happened as part of the distilling process. For me, I smell butter, wood, and some leather with mild sweetness on the nose, and the same on the taste. The finish is a very subtle cocoa nib / chocolate after the exhale, not super sweet and seems just right.149.0 USD per Bottle -
Blackened Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed March 30, 2019 (edited August 9, 2019)Not a lot of heat on this one, but definitely sweet...almost like honey with a touch of pepper. Overall, this one is a bit light / thin, but has a pleasant taste. I love Metallica, but I was hoping for a little more with the Pickeral assistance...still a must have for any a Metallica / Bourbon fan. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Heritage Barrel (2018 Release)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2019 (edited August 8, 2019)To start, admittedly, I have NEVER been a fan of JD until now...at least with this one. On the nose, it smells like something else completely; something better with more depth, leather, and charred oak. These scents transfer right on through to the taste. After some initial heat on the lips, a smoothness and full body settled in for some enjoyment. This is definitely not a thin, overly filtered and marketed whisky. Additionally, there is a touch of spice and maybe clove, perhaps. Overall, this was a surprising pour for me and one worth recommending...as a kid, I didn't like beets, but sometimes it's worth giving things a second chance. Cheers!100.0 USD per Bottle -
Blaum Bros. OldFangled Knotter Bourbon 12 Year
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed February 24, 2019 (edited February 1, 2020)For me, this one starts with a sweet, almost floral nose. The taste seems a bit thin at first, but settles in pretty quickly to give the right amount of heat with a mixture of fruitiness, wood, and a touch of spice, maybe a hint of clove. Overall, a good bourbon if you can find it for a fair price. Cheers 🥃 -
Sweet is definitely in more than this bottle's namesake. From the onset, there's a nose that brings back a pleasant memory of Sweet Tarts or Jolly Ranchers. From there, while this bourbon is perhaps a bit thin, the candy continues with a taste. There's a little touch of heat on the back-end that lingers in a good way and the sweetness almost changes to a cherry flavored soda. Overall, it's a nice pour, which is probably much better if you're able to find it for retail pricing, as opposed to buying it on the secondary market. Enjoy, cheers!

Murray Hill Club Special Release (Pineau des Charentes Cask Finish)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed February 13, 2019 (edited October 2, 2022)While not inexpensive, it's still less than $100 if you can find it for retail and not on the secondary market. More importantly, this pour is nothing short of amazing with its strong caramel, vanilla notes and deceitful ABV, as it's very smooth without a lot of heat...highly recommend drinking neat...enjoy!!95.0 USD per Bottle -
Joseph Magnus Straight Bourbon (Whiskey & Barrel Nite Private Barrel)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed February 13, 2019 (edited January 30, 2020)A pleasant aroma and taste of nuttiness, almost like walnuts, with hints of chocolate and English toffee. A nice departure from the common vanilla, camel notes of most bourbons...really good stuff!!95.0 USD per Bottle -
Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 27, 2019 (edited March 19, 2019)This is one of my favorite scotch blends for the money, hands down. I keep it on-tap in a decanter for anyone stopping by who may like a drink, but is unable to appreciate others that are much more expensive / collectible. Plus, it was featured in a movie (Wolf of Wall Street, I believe), and the stories each one of our selections have is what makes them even more special.35.0 USD per Bottle
