Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed December 6, 2020 (edited May 31, 2021)A Thanksgiving tradition in my house and for good reason - rich, spicy, cinnamon, rye forward, but smooth. A bit nutty and a lingering chocolate finish round it out well. Doesn't deserve its sometimes bad rep because it's excellent for its price point.
Jefferson's Very Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed December 6, 2020 (edited March 7, 2021)A humble, enjoyable sipper that doesn't pretend to be complex and that's good. Best with a few cubes to dilute the sweetness some as not much spice in it for balance. Honey and vanilla hit you immediately and the caramel didn't linger on the nose long. An easy choice when not sure what the palette is craving.
Noah's Mill Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed October 1, 2020 (edited October 30, 2020)As a small batch fan, I expected to like this and it did not disappoint. Holy spice on the first sip though! I don't usually love that much spice, but man does it smooth out nicely once it sits with a few cubes for a bit on subsequent sips. Rich and complex as the snappy cinnamon interacts with the creamy vanilla nicely on the tongue. Perfect for a crisp autumn evening.
Noble Oak Double Oak Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed October 1, 2020 (edited February 22, 2021)I expected to like this more than I did given the Sherry oak staves, but there was something off-putting about the favor profile on the finish that I can't quite put my finger on. Perhaps the herbal notes? Would not reach for it as a sipper again, but it might do okay in a cocktail.
Maison Surrenne Ancienne Distillery Petite Champagne Cognac
Cognac — Petite Champagne, FranceReviewed August 4, 2020Reasonable sweetness with an undertone of peach. Whipped cream hint on the nose. Light burn at the end although I wished for a little more bite. Easy sipping.
Bird Dog Chocolate
Flavored Whiskey — Kentucky, USAReviewed July 17, 2020Cloyingly too sweet and the chocolate flavor is not rich. But not bad over vanilla ice cream or for spiking coffee as others have mentioned.
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed July 17, 2020I keep Bulleit on my shelf because it's great for cocktails. Rye spice comes through and a hint of citrus.
Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed July 17, 2020A good everyday bourbon. Caramel with a hint of mint and toffee. Some spice but smooth.
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed July 17, 2020 (edited August 14, 2020)Nice spice. Smooth. But a little too herbal/floral for me to reach for it often.
1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed July 17, 2020 (edited July 22, 2020)Nice caramel notes but goes down a bit harsh for me. On the rocks or with a spritz of water smooths it out some.
