Jefferson's Very Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 6, 2020 (edited March 7, 2021)A humble, enjoyable sipper that doesn't pretend to be complex and that's good. Best with a few cubes to dilute the sweetness some as not much spice in it for balance. Honey and vanilla hit you immediately and the caramel didn't linger on the nose long. An easy choice when not sure what the palette is craving. -
As a small batch fan, I expected to like this and it did not disappoint. Holy spice on the first sip though! I don't usually love that much spice, but man does it smooth out nicely once it sits with a few cubes for a bit on subsequent sips. Rich and complex as the snappy cinnamon interacts with the creamy vanilla nicely on the tongue. Perfect for a crisp autumn evening.

Noble Oak Double Oak Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 1, 2020 (edited February 22, 2021)I expected to like this more than I did given the Sherry oak staves, but there was something off-putting about the favor profile on the finish that I can't quite put my finger on. Perhaps the herbal notes? Would not reach for it as a sipper again, but it might do okay in a cocktail. -
Maison Surrenne Ancienne Distillery Petite Champagne Cognac
Cognac — Petite Champagne, France
Reviewed August 4, 2020Reasonable sweetness with an undertone of peach. Whipped cream hint on the nose. Light burn at the end although I wished for a little more bite. Easy sipping. -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 17, 2020 (edited August 14, 2020)Nice spice. Smooth. But a little too herbal/floral for me to reach for it often.
